Donna Hensley Beck is the Clinical Director of Bridging Families at Crossnore Communities for Children. Donna has worked in social work for more than 30 years. Her background includes working with child welfare agencies and mental health agencies. Donna also spent time teaching at a university. As a social worker, Donna believes in people’s capacity to overcome adversity and experience healing from complex experiences when we come alongside them with support. Donna graduated from Mars Hill University with a Bachelor’s in Social Work, from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a Master’s in Social Work, and from Capella University with a Doctorate in Social Work. She holds a License of Clinical Social Work in North Carolina and Tennessee. Donna is a Circle of Security Facilitator and uses attachment theory to inform her work with families and children.
Donna grew up in Weaverville, North Carolina, and currently lives in Roan Mountain, Tennessee, with her dogs. Donna has 2 daughters and 4 grandchildren. She enjoys spending time with her family, gardening, cooking, photography, and traveling.

Michelle has directly implemented the Circle of Security in her practice as an Early Childhood Teacher, with her own grandchildren and supported Early Childhood Teacher Students at university to develop a deeper knowledge and understanding about the Circle of Security and how it supports their role as educators and the positive impact it has on children’s overall development.
Specialisations include; working with complex families, working with Australian Aboriginal families, working from a trauma informed framework, coaching, mentoring and supporting early childhood teachers and educators and family support practitioners to implement attachment based education and care for young children and parents/carers.
Michelle values the wellbeing and self-care of those working with children and families and views Circle of Security as foundational to supporting this. As they develop high quality and appropriate knowledge, skills and abilities children are positively and effectively supported which promotes optimal learning and overall development and wellbeing for the child. The ripple effect can create new possibilities for ALL.

I help families harness the power of relationship to enhance security and well being for the whole family. I’m an Infant Development Consultant and Somatic Energy Practitioner. I hold certificates in Attachment-Informed Art Therapy and DARe – Dynamic Attachment Repatterning experience, which is somatic experiencing through the lens of attachment.

As with all parents, if you’re feeling lost or without a clue about what your child might need from you – imagine what it might feel like if you were able to make sense of your child’s behaviours and emotions. I have been working in the world of child protection since graduating 7 years ago. I started in residential care before, moving into Family Intensive support. From there I moved into the Kinship space, which is where I started to think about becoming a facilitator and using this with my carers and their family member. I have since moved into early intervention working with parents and look forward to creating workshops for the parents in our service.

I am a holistic Child, Adolescent & Family Therapist. I specialise in working with child trauma and currently run the COS program through the nonprofit organisation Silky Oaks with parents who are working towards regaining the care of their children. I also work 2 days a week in private practice.
