Working in family support with women who are pregnant and early parenting

I use COSP in my work with an organization that provides a wealth of services for families raising children in the developmental years (0-5). I also plan to provide group opportunities for fathers and caregivers of diverse constellations (LGBTQ+ caregivers, grandparents, adoptive parents) in my own practice, which is focused on serving children and families!

I am the Family Engagement Program Coordinator for the Broomfield Early Childhood Council. I have been supporting parents for over 15 years in Broomfield and Boulder Countis with home visits, facilitation of parent support groups and parenting classes. I work collaboratively with the Broomfield Library to facilitate Baby Toddler Play Time and the summer Play and Learn, as well as providing parenting classes at the Detention Center. I love meeting caregivers where they are at and helping them see how amazing they already are. In addition to COSP I facilitate Positive Solutions and Incredible Years programs in Broomfield County.

I am a licensed clinical social worker that works heavily with parents in order to strengthen the relationship with their child/children and decrease the negative behaviors they experience from their child in a therapy session. I use it in my practice to help parents understand how their own experiences growing up, messages they send their children, and perspectives shape the way they parent and how the child experiences them. The concepts and activities from COSP help the parents I see have a better understanding of themselves and their children’s needs.
