I am a social worker working and living in Eswatini (Swaziland). I have 10 years experience working with children and families in a variety of settings, including child protection (primarily working with foster carers), criminal justice and education. I am also a mother. After I became a mother in 2020, my work shifted as I now had a lived experience of the intensity of parenthood. I felt the need to focus my services on supporting the adults in children’s lives. My passion for children to feel loved, safe and accepted for who they are remained, but I now had an added passion for the unique experience of parents and caregivers. The need to nurture parents and caregivers so that they are better able to nurture children felt important and necessary. So I went into private practice and started my own business, Roots Consulting and Therapeutic Services. We offer services to parents and caregivers, as well as consulting and training to educators. I offer COSP groups to parents and caregivers in Eswatini. I provide regular face to face groups in Malkerns and Mbabane as well as online groups to those in Eswatini who cannot attend in person and caregivers outside of Eswatini interested in accessing my services. I also work with community groups and couples. Circle of Security Parenting (COSP) is a powerful tool to help us reflect, gain insights on why sometimes we struggle as parents and understand how we can meet our young children’s relationship needs. Having participated in the COSP as a parent and then undergone the COSP facilitator training, I’m particularly interested in facilitating the COSP for Chinese-speaking caregivers such as grandparents who are invaluable for passing the Chinese culture onto their grandchildren while breaking some intergenerational cycles.

Judy has a passion for sharing the Circle of Security with parents, grandparents, educators and other carers in group settings. Groups are organised as needed with consideration given to remote presentation via video conferencing. Judy is an experienced counsellor and educator who has been supporting children and families for more than 30 years. Circle of Security has become a powerful tool in journeying with families to enrich relationships across the generations. Judy is excellent in her ability to relate to people with genuine warmth and compassion.
